Victorian homes sometimes featured second-story balcony designs. Smaller balconies were sometimes open to the sky, but the larger balconies were sometimes covered by the roof. Often balconies were stacked on top of the porch on the first floor. These balcony designs decorated with ornamentation that gave the Victorian home an elaborate look. The balconies featured wooden ornamentation known as “gingerbread.” Similarly to the house’s porch, Victorian-style balconies had covers and were usually stacked on top of the porch.
